About

To bring parents together, meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at the Chantry Centre, Chantry Way, Billericay CM11 2AP starting at 7.00 – 9.00 p.m. Parking is available in the high street or the main car park behind Iceland. Refreshments are provided and there is no charge to attend the meetings.

Parents come from all over Essex and are given a warm and friendly welcome but sadly there is not enough support available in the community.

This is not a course and is made to feel very informal with the option to ‘drop in’ to meetings as and when they feel the need.

Orange butterfly for healing

There is a bond between parents who have lost a child, and talking to someone who can relate and understand the feelings help you to realise you are not alone as it can be a very isolating place.

The death of a child is probably the most devastating experience any parent will face and there are so many different emotions and feelings.

Anxiety / stress / panic attacks / depression / anger / disbelief / frustration / heartache / guilt / numbness / acceptance / sweating / fear are to name but a few.

Our meetings are interesting and informative and to suggest different ways to help with the different emotions that can affect the bereaved families.

There is also a selection of books available for families to borrow, including information books for siblings and grandchildren.

Here are some comments that have been received by parents who attend the group

‘A caring, compassionate, supportive group of parents that have the shared experience of unimaginable loss, who are there for each other’

‘Brought together by the same tragedy’

‘Welcoming and friendly’

‘From the first meeting, I felt that everybody in the group Just Get It ‘

‘Calming space with others who understand.  Non judgemental, supportive people who help one another’

‘Sharing experiences and stories about our children with people who understand the loss of a child’

‘Warm and caring group, a safe place to share our feelings and “just be” with others who understand’
